These images are a result of the dreaded "blank page syndrome."
In times past when medium format twin lens reflex cameras were common, I exposed LOTS of black and white film. In the digital camera world, it has been all color until now. Except for the eye level viewer forced on me by the 35mm style SLR, it is like coming home. The old twin lens was so comfortable.

This weeks assignment was to photograph a ball. So, here goes.
Oh, no! Not another black background!
And, this one was going where?
The idea here was to center the ball in the picture, and still not make it a bullseye. Hmmm, I believe it is bit off center.
Perhaps I need to get out more often. This minimalist approach has been done enough already.
For week 2, this class is doing one of same assignments as the beginning class. These days, lemon aid sounds better than hot coffee.
If I did this project again several things would be different. I would have a different background, a different style glass, stronger lemon aid, light it differently, et cetera. With this setup, it is a little like taking a picture of a snowman in a snowdrift. The best part of doing this photo was drinking it.
I had so much fun in the Beginning Digital Photography class that I decided to take the Advanced Photography class. The first weeks assignment was take a picture of a fork. The instructor didn't specify the kind of fork. So, it could be a fork in the road, a tuning fork, bicycle fork, salad fork, on and on.
What to do?
This is one way to catch both sides in one shot. The two fine lines up the middle give away the story. A bit of black paint might have hidden the fishing line, but I was running out of time.
Beginning Digital Photography is a Continuing Education class offered by IUPUI, Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis. This class is intended for those that have just acquired their first digital camera, or are having trouble getting reasonable pictures. These pictures were all taken with an Olympus Model E-510 and a tripod for class homework.
The subject for the 2nd of 4 weeks was "Your Favorite Beverage". Not having the ingredients for a proper Margarita, I decided coffee was on my list of "Favorite Beverages". Even though the coffee was very hot, the environment wouldn't create any steam. NUTS!
Camera settings: ISO 100, 1/15s, f2.8, Focal Length 50mm. One 100 Watt Compact Fluorescent Lamp was the light source. Leading lines and selective focus were intended to bring the eye to the coffee cup as the center of interest.
The subject for the 3rd week was "Something Yellow".
A second picture was submitted for week 3. Again, the subject was "Something Yellow".
The subject for the 4th week was "Something Old". Pictures of the lunar eclipse that week offered a challenge for an "Old Something". Really, the Moon could be older than dirt.
Camera settings: ISO 200, f5.6, Focal Length 283mm. Shutter speeds varied from 1/60s to 4s. These exposures were taken over a 2 hour and 40 minute period.
